Coach your employees
posted in Blogging |There was interesting stat that I read a few weeks ago that employees will join companies and leave managers. All of us have had those managers that have made the job dreadful. You loved the company and really believed in what they stood for, but your manager was just not on the same page and it made it very difficult to stay motivated.Coaching your employees is all about the level of engagement that you have with each one. I learned early on that you need to customize your approach with each employee and really get to know them and what motivates each one. They will all have different skills that bring to the role and it is your responsibility to bring out the best in your people. Even those with higher education need motivation and coaching.
Sara Orem, PhD, an adjunct faculty member at Capella University, an accredited, fully online university, has co-authored a new book titled Appreciative Coaching: A Positive Process for Change. Recent developments in psychology and organizational development suggest that people and organizations flourish when they focus on human ideals, achievements, and best practices. Orem adds that the book is written for individual coaches of managers, executives, and “those who do one-on-one work with people who can influence and create change in their organizations.â€
