The high definition home theater system has made it’s way into many homes and as the technology prices come down the home stereo market is being redefined. The PC has become a major drive in stereo systems and controls and even gaming systems like the playstation 3 are becoming more versatile for not only playing games but functioning as a Blu-Ray DVD players. Many people now want to be able to play their MP3 or iPod tunes over the home theater systems and do this from one location. The wireless technologies are making it easier to place surround sound and high definition systems in place without having to drill holes and run wires. Many consumers were getting really mad with their new HDTV when they got it home and found out that the picture was not what they saw in the store. It got so bad and stores were getting more and more TVs back that most manufacturers put big bold stickers on the boxes stating that the high definition picture can only be seen with a high definition signal. People soon found out that their local TV shows in regular cable were worse than their standard tube based TV. Finding the right technology and type of TV has become more challenging and people are doing very little research before heading into the big box store.Plus with more devices using HDMI technology to connect having a HDMI switch can help you manage your new HDTV, Blu-Ray player and favorite gaming system from one convenient box. As the markets climbs to over $15 Billion more and more stores are fighting to get a piece of that business.

In the ever changing world of technology it is amazing how much memory devices can hold. I remember getting a 100 MB hard drive and thought that was never going to run out. As operating systems become more multifunctional and multimedia applications are now the main stream more memory and hard drive space is needed. Upgrading your ram is a must to help you run the latest applications and newest operating systems. Plus it can help to speed up your PC without having to buy a new one. Memory has definitely come down in cost and upgrading is quick and easy to do.

The Super Bowl showed us that the under dog can win and that the sponsorship for ads are everywhere. This year I noticed for the first time that the closed captioning had been sponsored by Pepsi. When you think about this was a great placement because not only does it benefit Pepsi and help those with hearing impairments enjoy the game, but all those TV sets that are muted during various points in the game will show the ads across the bottom of their screen. Of course I am guessing that the Patriots could have cared less if the closed captioning was working since the game was almost too painful to watch.

For many small businesses upgrading their existing network infrastructure can be very time consuming and costly. Depending on how the initial server and wiring setup was done it can take weeks to pull cable, find the right spots and locations to make sure that your office is completely wired. At Show me cables they offer a variety of patch panel devices for Cat5 wiring that can help your instalation and future upgrades much easier. With LED status indicators it makes it much simpler to identify full terminals or possible issues in a particular line. This can not only help decrease downtime, but help improve the future upgrades to newer faster systems.

We were in San Francisco for another meeting this week, which just happen to be the week that Mac was holding one of their annual conferences. The trade show was especially intersting seeing all the different partners and what they were offering for the new AirMac, and iPhone. The trade show booths were quite impressive and as you would expect very technology driven. Many of them had consumer interactive components that allowed the customer to get involved with the booth rather than just seeing information. This was a great experience as we got to view the upcoming technology that will be launched to the general public within the next few months.
Many companies spend thousands to have a presence at trade shows which enables them to engage their customers and introduce new products or enhance their brand. From the table skirts to the banner stands no small detail is left to chance when it comes to providing the brand image and messaging more impactful for those companies in attendance. Companies like CamelBack displays can provide you everything you will need for your display like the pipe and drape displays to customized over hangs to help you create a unique experience for your customer.

With the popularity and affordable of High definition TV many people are building and designing their own home theater rooms and systems. With 50″ plasma wide screen TV’s now available from the top names like Panasonic and Sony for around $2K the need to go to the movies does not seem that appealing. Plus watching some of the sports such as the NFL or hockey in HD in the comfort of your home theater cannot be duplicated. So sit back this weekend and watch the New England Patriots make history and go undefeated. Beside what could be better than watching Randy Moss do his show in HD.

If you have not cut the cords from your internet connection you are giving a ton of freedom. We just installed a Netgear wireless router that now gives us access to the internet even while we are out in the backyard. Wireless has come such a long way and the speed is much better. Now you can maintain the speed and security that you enjoyed while connected via your Cat 5 line. For those that are on the web and surf and design having a laptop and wireless connection is essential. I remember being tethered to the wall dialing up on my 14.4 modem and now I can set out back and enjoy videos streaming across the internet. What does the next few years hold for speed and access?

With access across corporate networks more vulnerable to attacks it is imperative to be able to protect sensitive information and control access. As employees use the company high speed network to access their personal email, video sites, and other non-work related sites they sometimes introduce unknown threats. Having a robust security system for your corporate network is critical to protecting your companies intellectual assets. As companies upgrade the infrastructure there are more and more used cisco gear that is becoming available for those companies that may have a smaller budget for their IT but upgrading is necessary. The internet is a growing space and companies need to stay as close to the curve as possible to avoid any loss in communication with their customers or employees.

We have had our component stereo system for almost fifteen years and the stereo cabinet that houses our equipment has gotten a bit beat up. After 4 moves and three children my wife is ready to make the upgrade. Some of the newer styles in stainless steel and glass are particularly inviting as they would give our system a whole new look. Today many people are building their own home theater systems and the stereo components and speakers are a key piece. The key is to make them accessible but not as visible so that they do not distract from the total package.

This year gaming systems are one of the hottest items topping many kids and adults Christmas wish list. From the interactive Wii to the playstation 3 there are games that will appeal to any age level. The PS3 has by far the best graphics engine and the added bonus is the Blu Ray DVD player that comes built in. This system coupled with an hitachi 50 LCD TV produces stunning graphics and images. I would caution anyone looking to hook up their new PS 3 to and HDTV that you are better off with LCD technology as the plasma set will look a little granular if there is a lot of action scenes. Playstation just recently reduced their price to try and stay competitive with the Xbox and the Wii. If you are looking for a great selection of games and awesome graphics then the PS3 may be something to put under your Christmas tree.
With all the holiday specials the biggest gift this year will be a new HDTV for most people. It is important to remember that choosing the technology will depend on how intend on using the TV. If you are in to movies and shows then plasma has some of the deeper blacks, but if you are using gaming purposes then you may want to consider LCD. The reason is that you will see some pixels on a plasma TV with fast images unlike more of a consistent image with LCD.

In my line of work I use my cell phone quite frequently and nothing is more frustrating than a dropped call or a bad connection. I have left messages on voice mail only to hear back that the recipients could not make out was what being said. Even with all the commercials touting their superior signals many you talk too are always having dropped calls. This is why you may need a cell phone booster for your car or home. Those that use their cell phone as their primary phone can get cell phone boosters for their home to gain a better signal and improve quality and clarity of the call.
