With the latest Consumer Electronics Show just wrapping up many of the new tech toys showcased were tablets and laptops. The newer laptops are now becoming thinner and offering an extended battery life. This is in part to compete with the tablets that are eroding the PC and laptop market. With the newer, faster and more energy efficient processors laptops are able to become thinner and offer more speed without draining the battery. You will see more new laptops introduced throughout the summer as the competition heats up.

When my teenaged daughters started behaving badly I didn’t know what to do. At first we thought they were just being normal rebellious teenagers until things started to get really bad. They were sneaking out with their boyfriends and coming home at all hours of the night. We didn’t know if they were out drinking or smoking pot, or worse, and I was barely sleeping. I moved recently and was lucky to find clear.com. I signed up for their wireless internet service and was able to get back online in no time. Good thing I was able to get the connection up quickly because I was really starting to rack up a bill on my cell phone. I knew that the financial results of that would not be pretty at the end of the month. I was trying to curtail my use because I knew I didn’t have any wireless service, but it was so difficult! I have gotten out of the habit of watching TV news, so there was that issue. I have to know what’s going on in the world so that meant checking a few websites every day. Then there was the matter of checking my bank account balances, and paying all of my bills online. There is no way any of us could get out of doing that. I don’t even think I know how to pay my bills by check anymore. I definitely had to read and respond to most of my emails too. The whole experience left me wondering what in the world people did before the internet.

This is the time of year when companies hold their year end awards banquets to recognize their top employees and salespeople. I have been privileged to have received several Corporate Awards for top sales and leadership. I am most proud of the award I received for my leadership role in a important project that lead to a reduction in overall training costs while improving overall engagement and learning of our sales training classes. Recognition from your bosses is great, but this was from my direct peers and this was extra special. We had a team that was looking at different solutions to help streamline training and use the most current technology so that we could train at our headquarters and also remotely. While we used the input of vendors our core team was responsible of helping gain leadership support and buy-in in order to make this project a success. Having employee awards that are based on the nomination of your peers in my opinion has the most impact. I have won sales trophies for exceeding goals and specified metrics which are all great, but those awards you get because of team effort is something you will remember much longer.

With this years trade shows and all the new entertainment and electronic gadgets it is not wonder that these companies need to break through the noise and get noticed at the various trade shows. This was a great experience as we got to view the upcoming technology that will be launched to the general public within the next few months. This year I made an investment in a wireless printer that was probably one of the best investments that I have made when upgrading one of my computing components. It was designed to do small business work along with some poster printing capabilities. With the multi print cartridges we wanted to look for one that had inkjet cartridges that would not cost a fortune. I have set up our wireless network with the latest wireless-N router and the access points and speed that we saw when upgraded was very impressive. We have two laptops and three other PC’s throughout the house that our entire family can use to access the internet and surf, check out facebook, or play games. The security on our device is very impressive and the quality is just as good as any other ink jet printer.

Even though I know that he would never admit it, my boyfriend has fallen for the show Pretty Little Liars just like I have. He sat down and watched an episode with me because he was bored. Then the questions came and he pretended that he wasn’t interested. But of course I knew that he was! I know him better than he knows himself, although I haven’t yet dared to point out to him that he likes the show.

I guess that the plot of the show can be a little complicated with all of the twists and turns, so I went online to try and find a shorter plot synopsis that would answer all of his questions. I’ve wanted to go to college ever since I was a little girl but lately I’ve been pretty convinced it’s just out of my family’s price range. Unfortunately, my dad lost his job last year and we’ve been scrimping and saving ever since, so I thought I might have to put off school until we got back on our feet.
