For those that are fortunate enough to have good health it is hard to relate to someone with asthma. I have heard it described as trying to breath through a small straw when they are having an attack. There are many treatment options for those that suffer from asthma and many causes. One of the common explanations is that asthma is a childhood disease that you will outgrow. This is not the case since there are millions of adults who suffer from asthma and need medication to help them control their symptoms. Some use a pulse oximeter which tests for the amount of oxygen in the blood. Many people will have to be put on a nebulized medication and this helps your to breath in the medication as it creates a mist with the appropriate medication.
