Learn using technology

posted in Education |

Many companies today are doing more with less and this goes for their training departments. This has had an impact on local colleges as they are tasked with decentralizing their education approach by taking the courses and information to the students. There have not been too many colleges or universities that have sprung in the last 10 years and this could be due to the advancement of e-learning. This allows schools and companies to offer courses via the web and have their employees or students certify online. The common certification platform is called SCORM. This is just an industry standard to help create a common platform on how to verify that those that took the course pass and retain the knowledge.

Many universities such as Capella have capitalized on the technology and offer many distance learning courses for their students. They also have tailored programs to accommodate companies and their training departments.Capella University, an accredited,* online university based in Minneapolis, Minn., today introduced a new Bachelor of Science in Public Safety program, as well as eight new graduate and undergraduate specializations in psychology, education, information technology, business, and criminal justice. Enrollment is now open, with classes beginning summer quarter 2007.
